Elf on the Shelf

How do you feel about Elf on the Shelf?

It’s that time of year again.

THE CONCEPT THAT ‘Santa is always watching’ isn’t exactly new, but the recent Elf on the Shelf craze has quickly become as much a Christmas staple as chocolate advent calendars.

The tradition involves a small scout elf who “reports” back to the North Pole each night and sees parents moving the elf into a new pose daily.

In yesterday’s Voices piece, Niamh O’Reilly writes that although she initially planned to keep the elf out of her home, she eventually gave in to the phenomenon. She adds while the ritual can feel magical for children, the nightly task of repositioning the elf can add extra pressure during an already busy time of year.

“I’m afraid the bar has now been raised to dizzying heights, where children brag to each other every morning in school about how outrageous their Elf is,” O’Reilly said.

So, let’s turn it to you: How do you feel about Elf on the Shelf?
