Sold! Elizabeth Taylor's wedding dress, Cobain's guitar and Bond's watch

The star of the silver screen’s first wedding dress sold for almost three times the estimate at a Christie’s auction in London.

ELIZABETH TAYLOR’S FINE silk wedding dress for her first wedding to Conrad ‘Nicky’ Hilton in 1950 sold for almost three times the estimate at a Christie’s auction in London yesterday.

After a ferocious bidding war, an anonymous bidder bough the oyster silk satin gown for around €142,608 (£121,875).

The wedding dress was part of the auction 120 years of Pop Culture, which sold memorabilia dating from every decade of the past century of from film and music.

The smashed maple neck of Kurt Cobain’s electric guitar that features rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays for left-handed playing. The former Nirvana frontman played it on stage on various occasions between May to September 1990 and he smashed it on stage at the Motor Sports International Garage Show in Seattle on 22 September, 1990.

It’s estimate was between €3,500 and €5,800, but it sold at auction for €10,967.
