All households to get a €125 energy credit this year and another next year

Households will see €250 in total taken off their energy bills.

LAST UPDATE | 1 Oct 2024

HOUSEHOLDS WILL RECEIVE two €125 energy credits as part of this year’s Budget.

One will be paid before the end of this year and one next year.

The move was announced today by Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe as part of Budget 2025.

In addition to this, a further €300 lump sum will be made to recipients of the fuel allowance this November.

This year’s Budget includes a whopping €2bn cost-of-living package.

As part of this, an additional €200 will be paid to recipients of the living alone allowance.

Meanwhile, there will be a €400 payment to those who receive the carer’s support grant, the disability allowance, the blind pension, the invalidity pension and the domiciliary care allowance. All of these will be paid this November.

Stop giving credits, reduce the price of electricity.
People can recognise when they’re being bribed with their own money.
Get Electric Ireland and the other providers to stop profiteering off the backs of the taxpayers.

I believe that the increase in levies on Electricity Bills which come into effect in November amount to €140 per annum. So we are only getting €110. A con job.

Subsidising the Energy sector again who have been making record profits. All part of the Green agenda to make people cut back on energy usage to bring us back to a peasant lifestyle. They ignore the role of Energy in the development of Human civilisation for the last 2000 years.

UNLESS the house you’re renting is attached to a shop! You will then be classed as a commercial property and get zilch. I’m quite aware that landlords in the situation we’re in are supposed to pass on the savings to the tenants but they will not be reimbursed by the government; it comes out of the landlord’s pocket and will most likely recoup in the form of a rent increase. I was told by the regulator to have the RTB moderate between us and our landlord- again, anything out of the landlord’s pocket will be passed on to us. Government- please do NOT make these general statements to get votes without mentioning the exceptions. Second year we get screwed.

Can people getting fuel allowance not just put a jumper on, or burn their rubbish?

The sham that is the Green Party enabled in their actions by Fianna Fail & Fine Gael, have allowed their lobbyists in the Energy companies continue with their record profiteering on the backs of hard pressed families. The new Levy ensures that we only get a percentage of this credit. The Energy companies in Ireland are charging between 70% to 80% higher than everywhere else in Europe & will probably put up their charges again, enabled by the CRU. You can thank John Melvin of the CRU for imposition of the new Levy. The CRU are working only for the Energy companies not Households. Energy prices are putting working families on the poverty line, thanks to the Greens & CRU, both need to be removed & torn down asap.

The greens carbon taxes increase will eat this up indirectly as fuel costs will increase. Another hidden cost in the budget.
