INVESTIGATIONS HAVE BEGUN into an incident where an off-duty FBI agent allegedly shot a man in a Colorado nightclub after doing a backflip.
A video obtained by local television stations and shared widely on social media shows a man dancing in the centre of a crowd before he performs a backflip.
The video shows a gun falling out of his trousers and fires – allegedly hitting another man in the lower leg, according to local media reports.
The Denver Police Department said the agent “was dancing at a nightclub when his firearm became dislodged from its waistband holster and fell onto the floor. When the agent retrieved his handgun an unintended discharge occurred.”
The shooting victim was recovering in hospital from non-life-threatening injuries, the local ABC television affiliate said.
The agent was taken to Denver Police headquarters and was subsequently released to an FBI supervisor.
In a statement to CBS, an FBI spokesperson said that “the investigation is active, ongoing, and a personnel matter so we cannot provide comment at this time”.
