Family escaped through window as Finglas arson attack believed to have targeted wrong house

Five people were forced to escape the building through a second-storey window.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING an arson attack on a house in Finglas yesterday as a case of mistaken identity, after it emerged that the wrong property may have been targeted.

Five people, including three teenagers, were hospitalised following the fire at a home on Creston Avenue shortly before 1am yesterday morning.

According to a source familiar with the affected family, the house was not the intended target of the attack and it is believed the fire was meant for another property in the area.

Some of the occupants were forced to flee the burning house through a second-storey window, with some sustaining cuts from broken glass as they escaped.
