Two killed in fire at Co Galway flats complex

A man aged 38 and second person who has not yet been identified were killed in the overnight blaze in Gort, Co Galway.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been killed following a fire at a block of flats in Co Galway.

The Emergency Services were alerted to the fire at Tom O Donnell’s Flats on Railway Road, Gort at around 2.50am.

Gardaí have confirmed two people were killed — a man aged 38 and a second person, who is yet to be identified (the gender of the second person hasn’t been determined, but the deceased is believed to be an adult).

Their remains were removed to University Hospital Galway where a post mortem is due to take place later on today. No one else was injured.

The scene is being preserved for a forensic tests.
