A NEW FUNDING programme for the construction and refurbishment of 26 fire stations across the country was announced today.
The project will see some €40 million being spent to build 16 new fire stations between now and 2020. A further ten stations will be upgraded.
The table below shows the areas where the new fire stations will be constructed:
Stations in Killarney, Ballinasloe, Dunshaughlin, Muine Bheag, Mountmellick, Moutrath, Ballinamore, Drumshanbo, Oldcastle and Kilkee will undergo upgrades or refurbishments over the next four years.
Announcing the plan today, Minister Alan Kelly said fire station construction projects will continue to be reviewed annually.
