Gardaí arrest suspect for petrol bombing of County Wexford garda station

The incident in Blackwater, near Curracloe Beach and 19kms from Enniscorthy, happened at 2.50am on Wednesday morning.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a suspect for a petrol bomb attack on a rural garda station in a County Wexford village.

The incident in Blackwater, near Curracloe Beach and 19km from Enniscorthy, happened at 2.50am on Wednesday morning.

It is understood CCTV of the incident has proven hugely helpful in identifying the suspect.

Sources said the man can be seen approaching the garda station and throwing a burning item into it. There was extensive smoke and fire damage to the building.

He can then be seen on the footage running from the building as it burns.

This morning a spokesman said that detectives from the Wexford/Wicklow Serious Crime Unit arrested a man aged in his 30s.

He is being detained under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act, which allows gardaí to question him for a maximum of 24 hours.
