GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man in Dublin following the seizure of an estimated €680,000 worth of cannabis in the west of the city.

As part of ongoing drug investigations in the Clondalkin district, Revenue officers and the Garda Special Crime Task Force conducted a joint intelligence-led operation.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped in the area today and a 47-year-old Albanian man was arrested.

Approximately 34kg of herbal cannabis was seized.

The man remains in custody at Clondalkin Garda Station, where he is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Another drug seizure was made during a garda stop-and-search operation in Blanchardstown yesterday evening. Gardaí seized 5kg of cannabis resin in this case.

A man in his 30s was arrested for drug trafficking offences.

A follow-up search at an address in the Ashbourne area resulted in the seizure of an additional 18kg of cannabis resin, and a woman in her 30s was arrested.

Both are currently detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station.

The street value of the seizure in this investigation is estimated at €108,000.

Last week, gardaí arrested two men in Dublin following the seizure of an estimated €1.5 million worth of cannabis.

Gardaí also seized €70,000 in cash during a follow-up search at a house on the northside of Dublin.
