Gardaí seeking to trace two drivers, after girl killed in Greenhills Road smash
A 16-year-old girl from Tallaght died in the crash between a car and a Dublin Bus.

Updated at 2.46pm

OFFICERS INVESTIGATING YESTERDAY’s fatal crash on the Greenhills Road in west Dublin are seeking to trace the drivers of two cars seen in the area at the time of the collision.

16-year-old Stacey Masterson of Kilmartin Green, Tallaght, was the front seat passenger in the car – which collided with a Dublin Bus on the 27 route at around 5pm. It happened close to the Lidl supermarket.

The 19-year-old male driver of the car was also taken to Tallaght Hospital, where he is said to be in a serious condition this afternoon – it’s believed he suffered head injuries. Dublin Fire Brigade used cutting equipment to access the vehicle.

Seven passengers were on the bus at the time the crash took place. The driver and one passenger were taken to St. James’s Hospital for treatment to shock. Both have now been released.

A spokesperson for Dublin Bus told TheJournal.ie the company had begun its own investigation into what happened, in line with procedure – and that it was likely all occupants of the bus would speak to gardaí.

CCTV footage from the vehicle and from the surrounding area is being viewed by officers as part of the garda investigation.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, and say they’re particularly interested in speaking to the drivers of two cars seen in the area of the crash. The vehicles – which were possibly silver in colour – overtook the bus at a stop on the Greenhills Road shortly before the collision.

Witnesses are being asked to contact Crumlin Garda Station on 01- 6666200 or the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111.
