IF YOU’VE BEEN having trouble accessing your contacts or avoiding work on Google chat this morning, you’re not the only one.
Here at TheJournal.ie, we noticed issues at around 8.30 am, and started seeing this error message:
A quick check in with Twitter showed the complaint was everywhere:
The website Down Detector showed a clear spike in reported problems right around 9am:
Google themselves confirmed “an issue”, without giving any details, and by before 9.30 am, the problem seemed to have been fixed.
At 9.19 am, they stated on the Apps Status dashboard:
The problem with Gmail should be resolved. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support.
We’ve asked a Google spokesperson for details on what actually caused the issues with contacts and hangout this morning, and are awaiting a response.
