Grandfather charged with the murder of his 9-year-old grandson

Alex James Robinson died on Tuesday but the cause of death has not been revealed.

POLICE IN LINCOLNSHIRE have charged a 64-year-old man with the murder of his grandson Alex James Robinson.

The 9-year-old boy was taken to hospital on Tuesday after he had been found gravely ill by emergency services. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Lincoln County Hospital.

A post-mortem carried out on Christmas Eve led to the police investigation being upgraded to murder.

They released an update late last night to confirm that Stewart James Greene, the grandfather of the victim has been charged with the murder. Earlier, police said he was helping them with their inquiries.

No details about the cause of death were given.

It is understood Alex lived with his grandfather, mother and sister in the city.

Greene will appear in court tomorrow.
