Handgun, ammo and bullet-proof vest seized in Kerry cannabis crackdown

Three people have been arrested, and almost €200,000 worth of cannabis seized.

THREE PEOPLE HAVE been arrested, drugs uncovered and a firearm seized in a Garda operation targeting two houses in rural Kerry overnight.

Gardaí from Tralee carried of a planned search of a house in the village of Fenit at around 1am this morning, in the first part of their operation.

Cannabis worth around €37,000 was found, along with a handgun, ammunition and a bullet-proof vest.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were arrested at the scene, and have been taken to Tralee Garda Station for questioning.

In a follow up raid, at around 3am, officers found cannabis worth around €140,000 at a house in Barrow West, in the village of Ardfert.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and taken to Listowel Garda Station for questioning, where he remains today.
