MARVEL FANS, REJOICE – the wait is finally over for the highly anticipated Hawkeye original series.

The first two episodes of the six-part series land exclusively on Disney+ today, with new episodes released every coming Wednesday.

The next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019) and is based on the comics of the same name by Matt Fraction.

Jeremy Renner reprises his role as superhero and former Avenger Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) for the series, with Hailee Steinfeld joining him as skilled archer Kate Bishop – who also happens to be his biggest fan.

The cast includes Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon and Brian d’Arcy James. Alaqua Cox appears as new character Maya Lopez (aka Echo), a deaf superhero who can perfectly copy another person’s movements.

Set in New York City post-Blip, the blockbuster series follows Hawkeye and Kate as they team up to confront a threat from the past. No spoilers, but it emerges from Hawkeye’s years spent as vigilante Ronin, during which he set out to murder every criminal in his path.

Speaking about his role as Hawkeye, Renner said the series’ storyline allows him to explore another side of his character. “Obviously he’s not the flashiest of all the Avengers because he doesn’t have any superpowers, but here’s the coolest thing: his heart, his family, tenacity and strength,” he told Variety.

“Heart will get you much further than even the great skill set that he has (as an archer), so I love the idea of cementing that as an accessible superpower that everyone possesses.”

The series is Steinfeld’s debut as 22-year-old Kate Bishop, who she says is a character “that could in any way possibly inspire anyone.”

“Kate Bishop is a character that I would have loved to have had growing up — somebody who is completely ambitious, driven and disciplined, and takes it upon herself to do whatever it is she has to do to achieve her goals,” she said. “I am very excited for people to meet her.”

With the first two episodes already available to stream on Disney+, fans can get straight into the world of Hawkeye – and the festive spirit.
