A lucky escape: This Dublin cyclist's helmet was split in three places in a crash

Let’s be careful out there…

IN CASE YOU hadn’t noticed, the weather’s been a little wet of late.

A number of weather warnings have been issued in recent days, and the heavy rain has led to flooding in several areas.

As is usual, authorities have been issuing safety advice to road users – and a particular warning for cyclists was issued by Dublin Fire Brigade this afternoon.

The service tweeted the picture below, of a cycling helmet split in three pieces following a crash earlier.

“Helmets prevent serious injuries,” the fire service noted.

“We wanted to highlight that the helmet took significant damage and did its job.”

The patient is expected to make a full recovery.

(We’ve asked Dublin Fire Brigade for further details of the incident).
