GETTING TO GRIPS with a fast-changing property market is tricky, but we’re here to make things simpler.
Each week, we’ll handpick a number of homes within a similar budget, to give you a snapshot of the property landscape at a particular price point.
This week, we’re looking at properties around Co Cork with an asking price of exactly €550,000 – from a riverside home in West Cork to a showroom-worthy five-bed in Glantane.
Located on a site of 2.79 acres and with breathtaking views of the Argideen River, Highview House is a picture-perfect property. It measures close to 3,000 sq ft and features a country-style interior with ceiling beams, fireplaces with brick surrounds and views of the expansive countryside throughout.
Accommodation comprises two reception rooms, a sunroom, a large home office, an open-plan kitchen and dining area, four spacious bedrooms and three bathrooms. Highview House is a 15-minute drive from Clonakilty town, while Timoleague village can be reached in 10 minutes.
A five-bedroom property, Ardsallagh Lodge boasts an unrivalled location by the River Blackwater, with views across Youghal Bay and beyond. The residence sits on one acre of private grounds and spans 2,600 sq ft. It features a uniquely-decorated interior with gold detailing throughout, although the layout itself is bright and spacious and allows for modernisation. Impressively, each room enjoys river or sea views – or both.
On the ground floor, there’s a formal drawing room, dining room, TV room, kitchen, laundry room and boot room. Each of the five bedrooms features an en suite bathroom, while there’s also a dressing room and open sitting area on the first floor. Ardsallagh Lodge is a 10-minute drive from Youghal, while Cork city is 45 minutes away.
Located a 20-minute walk from Little Island and a 15-minute drive from Cork city, this bright and sunny five-bed is perfectly positioned for those who want to be close to everyday amenities while still enjoying a sense of calm and privacy. The property sits on an elevated site which is bordered by mature trees and shrubs, and includes a beautiful landscaped garden with a waterfall and water feature.
The interior is spacious and well laid-out, with three reception rooms and a large country-style kitchen. A balcony extends from the master bedroom and enjoys beautiful views of the surrounding greenery and Glounthane village, which can be reached by car in five minutes.
If you’re looking for space – and plenty of it – The Old Schoolhouse in Mallow might just be the property for you. It spans an impressive 4,520 sq ft and includes five bedrooms, five bathrooms and five reception rooms, as well as a large kitchen and home office.
The property has been extensively renovated and restored over the years, and comes to the market in turn-key condition with many of its original features in tact. It boasts a tastefully designed interior that feels both charming and contemporary, while outside there are landscaped gardens of 1.6 acres to enjoy.
