Suspected human remains found near St James's Hospital

The suspected remains were unearthed among the roots of a tree.

SUSPECTED HUMAN REMAINS have been unearthed close to St James’s Hospital in Dublin.

A spokesperson for the gardaí said the bones emerged after a tree fell near Grand Canal View close to the rear of the South Inner City hospital this afternoon at around 3pm.

They were unearthed with the roots of the tree, the spokesperson added.

The area has been sealed off. Forensic anthropologists are expected at the scene in the morning.

The suspected remains may be historical, but investigators have not yet made any such determination.
