It's not just you: it's really humid right now (but don't worry, it'll be grand tomorrow)

A bout of humidity over the past few evenings and nights is set to alleviate tomorrow.

THE LAST NUMBER of evenings and nights have proved humid across the country, and tonight is to remain the same – but from tomorrow night the humidity is to lift, according to Met Éireann meteorologist Eilís Hankinson.

Speaking to The Journal, Hankinson explained that the heavy, close heat experienced overnight across the country over the last number of nights is due to high pressure, but that it’s soon to give in to a cold front.

This type of humidity is very normal for this time of year, she said.

“We’ve had high pressure recently, which has kept a lot of cloud and moisture trapped, which has meant that the humidity has been fairly high,” Hankinson said, “so it felt quite mild, and muggy, but that is set to change then tomorrow.

“We have a cold front moving through tonight, and we’ll be switching to a more mobile westerly flow, so conditions will feel a lot fresher tomorrow and for Friday.”

Tonight will remain quite muggy, she said. Temperatures are not expected to drop beneath 13 degrees.

“Then we have a system moving through over the weekend. On Saturday night, it’ll bring a warm front followed by a cold front, so that’ll raise the humidity then for a time on Saturday, but it’ll become more fresher then again Sunday.”

Weather the rest of the week will swing between dry and wet – but the heavy pressure should mainly lift for the rest of the week from tomorrow.
