Poll: Should politicians be able to speak Irish?

Is it necessary?

THE TG4 LEADERS’ debate has been cancelled because of a lack of proficiency in the Irish language by Joan Burton and Gerry Adams.

But, in this day and age, is that such a bad thing?

While the country is run and governed mostly in English, does it matter if a political leader can’t speak Irish?

We’re asking: Should politicians be able to speak Irish?
