POLICE IN NEW York are investigating following the death of an Irishman who died in an apparent fall from an apartment building in the early hours of Saturday.

68-year-old Thomas McKenzie was found in the lobby of the building on Brooklyn’s Eastern Parkway at around 4am, according to the New York Daily News.

A post mortem was scheduled to take place yesterday.

The father of nine was in the city to visit family members, and was staying with a nephew who lived in the building.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs said it had had no contact from the family, but stood ready to provide consular assistance if needed.
