Jannik Sinner succumbs to heat in shocking French Open second round loss

Heat gets to tournament favourite.

JANNIK SINNER’S 30-match winning run came to an abrupt halt at the French Open on Thursday, as the world number one succumbed to sweltering conditions in a five-set, second-round loss to Juan Manuel Cerundolo.

Sinner, the red-hot favourite at Roland Garros, led by two sets and was 5-1 up in the third, before being hampered by physical issues and suffering his earliest Grand Slam exit since losing at the same stage in Paris three years ago.
