Driver, 63, killed in two car crash in Co Limerick

The 33-year-old driver of the second car received non-serious injuries.

A MAN HAS been killed and another injured in a two car collision in Co Limerick.

It happened on the R523 near the village of Carrickerry, in the west of the county, at around 7.10am.

A 63-year-old man was fatally injured, and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant  of the second car, a man aged 33, received non-serious injuries.

The injured man was taken for treatment to Limerick Regional Hospital, while a post-mortem on the man who died is also expected to be carried out at the facility.

A section of the road has been closed as forensic tests are carried out.

Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses to contact Newcastle West Garda Station on 069-20650, the Garda Confidential Line  on 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
