Gardaí following 'definite line' of inquiry to find driver after fatal three-car road collision

A young nurse who died in the crash has been named locally.

TRIBUTES HAVE BEEN paid to a nurse who was killed in a three-car collision in Co Limerick earlier this weekend.

The woman, aged in her 30s, has been named locally Áine O’Reilly and came from Pallasgreen, Co Limerick.

The crash occurred at around 11:10pm Friday night on the N24 near Grange West, Boher, Co Limerick.

Investigating Gardaí are seeking to identify the driver of the third car and say they now have a “definite” line of inquiry.

That driver fled, leaving the vehicle they were driving at the scene.

Áine, who was the sole occupant of one of the cars, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The sole occupant of the second car, a man in his forties was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at this time.

The young woman worked for out-of-hours GP service Shannon Doc and was the only daughter of a retired teacher and guard.

Local councillor Noreen Stokes said the community was in shock following the death.

“I know the family very well and a big shadow cast over the community,” Stokes told The Journal.

“I just feel for a young woman who was on her way to her job caring for people and going about her job minding her own business, but sadly she was killed along the way.

“My utmost sympathies to her parents, her brothers and all her immediate family.”
