WHAT’S THE STORY? 

1. THE funeral mass for Jonathan, Thomas and Paddy O’Driscoll was held in Charleville this afternoon. Father Tom Naughton said the community was “questioning so many things”, adding that there may never be “complete answers at this side of the grave”.

He said the tragedy challenges society to “continue and to increase our efforts to understand and to assist, especially young males, to communicate the darkness that seems to be increasingly troubling young minds and hearts”.

He also talked about the young boys and how they “took care of each other and stood up for each other”.

2. POPE Francis has accepted the resignation of Cardinal Seán Brady as Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland on age grounds.

4. THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced that they are expecting their second child. Their first born, George, turned one in July.
