WHAT’S THE STORY?
1. Its Day Four in the Big Brother house in the European election count centres.
Sitting MEPs Jim Higgins and Phil Prendergast have definitely lost their seats, while Luke Ming Flanagan, Brian Crowley and Liadh Ní Riada are all Brussels-bound. We should find out who’ll be joining them later today.
2. As the counts peter out, the politics heads are now focusing on who will be the next leader of the Labour party. Early favourites are Alex White and current deputy Joan Burton. Party members are already considering the matter…
So, none of this then?
3. A massive study of drug use has found that Ireland has the third-highest incidence of drug-induced deaths in Europe.
4. Some good news on the jobs front today with two announcements from IDA Ireland. SAP and Ericsson will, between them, create 380 jobs for Dublin, Galway and Athlone.
5. Following an intensive social media campaign in Bali and Australia, the Irish family of a man who was reportedly injured, confused and wandering around the island of Bali have been contacted.
6. Speaking of social media, this newly-elected TUV councillor has got quite the welcome to politics after posts she wrote on Facebook three years ago emerged. Jolene Bunting failed to give a full apology for the sentiments, instead explaining that she should have used the word ‘republicans’ and not ‘Catholics’.
7. Senator Lorraine Higgins has described how she was subjected to a death threat during the course of her European election campaign. Listen to her describe the abuse on Today with Seán O’Rourke.

8. Police in Newtownards have issued an appeal after three ducks were stolen from a nursing home in Comber. Jemima, Pete and Agnus were taken some time between Friday evening and Saturday morning.
