WHAT’S THE STORY?
1. Will she? Won’t she? Joan Burton will be making a statement – presumably about her intentions to put her name forward for the vacant Labour party leader position – at 2.30pm.
2. Sticking with Labour’s future, one TD has called for a clear-out of the entire old guard. According to Dominic Hannigan, the answer is not going to come from “people who have been within Leinster House for the past quarter of a century“.
Out with the old …
3. Hunger striker Tony Rochford was arrested yesterday during a water charge protest in Trim. He will be the first person charged for trying to block the installation of a meter.
4. Two men received leg injuries in separate shooting incidents in Dunmurray and Dublin last night. PSNI described the attack near Belfast as a ‘punishment style’ shooting.
5. You can now speak to your relatives abroad… in German. If you’re into that kind of thing.
6. Sixty-two dogs were rescued by the ISPCA recently from a dilapidated, former breeding home in Cork. The poodles and chihuahuas now all need new homes. Awww.
