Man (20s) injured after shooting incident in north Dublin

Gardaí believe the shooting may be linked to a motor vehicle that was found ablaze on Kilbarron Road, Dublin 5 yesterday evening.

A MAN HAS been hospitalised after an apparent shooting incident in Ballymun, Co Dublin.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene at Coultry Terrace shortly after 7pm yesterday evening.

No arrests were made but a man, aged in his 20s, was found to have sustained injuries during the incident, which gardaí say involved the discharge of a firearm.

The man was taken to hospital, where he is being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The scene has been preserved for forensic examination and investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses of the incident. 

They said a motor vehicle on Kilbarron Road, Dublin 5 was discovered on fire a short time after the shooting. They believe that these two incidents may be connected.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling in the area of Coultry Terrace, Dublin 9 and Kilbarron Road, Dublin 5 between 6:50pm and 8:10pm on Sunday evening are asked to make this material available to investigating gardaí.
