Three men die in separate crashes in Cork, Kildare and Donegal on Saturday

THERE WERE THREE separate road fatalities in Cork, Kildare and Donegal on Saturday, with two young motorcyclists among the dead.

A man died after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a jeep in Co Cork.

The crash happened on the N20 at Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, yesterday at around 8pm.

The driver, who was aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

His body was taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Gardaí said the coroner has been notified, and a family liaison officer has been appointed to support the family of the deceased.

The driver of the jeep, a man in his 80s, was treated in hospital for injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time.

The road is currently closed pending examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

A spokesperson said local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N20 near Castlewrixon between 7.15pm and 8pm on 4 July are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

Kildare

Separately, another motorcyclist died after a single-vehicle collision in Killick, Kilcock on Saturday morning before 10.45am.

His body was brought to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place. The coroner has been notified.

Donegal

In Donegal, a man in his 20s died in a two-vehicle collision. He was driving the car. The passenger was hospitalised.

The crash happened at Kinnego Cross, Ballymagan, shortly before 9.10pm.

The driver and passenger of the second car, a man and woman aged in their late teens, have been treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The road is currently, but local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are also appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.
