Man arrested after petrol station robbed by raider who escaped through graveyard

Money, a hatchet and clothing were recovered by gardaí.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man following a robbery at a petrol station at Rathass, Tralee, in Kerry last night.

The robbery occurred at around 8.20pm last night. A man armed with a hatchet entered the petrol station, threatened staff, stole cash and made off on foot across Rathass Graveyard.

There were no injuries reported.

Gardaí responding to reports of the incident came upon a man fitting the description close to Fountain Court, Tralee.

The man in his 40s was arrested and is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Tralee Garda Station.

Money, a hatchet and clothing were recovered by gardaí in a follow-up search of the area.
