Man arrested in connection with alleged theft and hijacking of vehicles

Gardaí are investigating two separate incidents that occurred in Cork and Tipperary on Sunday.

A MAN IN his 40s has been arrested in connection with the theft of a vehicle in Co Cork and the hijacking of another vehicle in Co Tipperary on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, shortly after 9am, gardaí were alerted to an alleged incident of criminal damage and theft of a vehicle in Midleton in Co Cork. The vehicle was recovered.

Later on that day, shortly after 5pm in Roscrea, Co Tipperary, in a separate incident, another car was allegedly hijacked. Gardaí put out a public appeal to help locate the car.

The man arrested this morning in connection with these incidents is currently detained at a garda station in Co Cork under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Investigations into the incidents remain ongoing.
