Dublin community in 'shock and disbelief' after man hit by vehicle and attacked by group of men

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following the incident.

LAST UPDATE | 18 Dec 2025

GARDAÍ HAVE APPEALED for witnesses after a man was knocked down by a vehicle and seriously assaulted with weapons in a housing estate in west Dublin earlier this month.

The man remains in a critical condition in hospital following the serious assault, which took place in Cappaghmore estate, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, at about 6:30pm on Friday 5 December.

A man (30s) was knocked down by a vehicle and a number of men exited the vehicle and continued to assault him with weapons. The man was brought to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Gardaí from Lucan and Ronanstown Garda stations carried out a number of searches yesterday morning with the assistance of Armed Support units, and seized a number of electronic devices and weapons.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.

Commenting on the incident, local councillor Francis Timmons said:

“My thoughts are with the man who is in critical condition and his family at this time, the residents of this quiet estate are in shock and disbelief that such and attack could happen on their doorstep.

I appeal to anyone with any information on this attack to contact the guards.

Anyone who was in the Cappaghmore Estate/Ninth Lock Road area of Clondalkin between 6pm and 7pm on the evening of Friday 5 December 2025 and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ronanstown Garda Station on 01 666 7700, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
