Two questioned over attack on man left alone and injured in field

The victim sustained serious head and facial injuries – but the crime went unreported for hours.

TWO MEN HAVE been questioned and released over an attack on a young man left alone in a field suffering from serious head injuries at the weekend.

The 20-year-old was discovered in the field, near Milford in Armagh, on Sunday evening.

Police understand he was the victim of an assault that happened early on Sunday, and lay untreated for hours until the attack was reported before 5pm.

The victim sustained “a number of serious head and facial injuries” when he was attacked in the field, off the Monaghan Road, the PSNI said.

In an update this morning, the PSNI confirmed a 25-year-old arrested over the incident had been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A second man, aged 24, was also arrested and questioned yesterday in connection with the attack. He’s also been released on police bail.

The victim of the assault remains in a serious condition in hospital.
