Man in early 40s arrested over Dean Fitzpatrick killing

The 23-year-old – brother of missing Amy Fitzpatrick – was found with stab wounds at Northern Cross on Dublin’s northside in May.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man in his early 40s as part of their investigation into the killing of Dean Fitzpatrick in May of this year.

The 23-year-old was found with stab wounds at Northern Cross on the Malahide Road in Dublin on 25 May last, and later died from his injuries in Beaumont Hospital.

The man being questioned was detained in the Coolock area this morning, and is being held at Coolock Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

This is the second arrest in relation to the case. The partner of Dean’s mother – 42-year-old Dave Mahon – was previously questioned, after he presented himself to gardaí the day after the death.

Dean was the brother of 15-year-old Amy Fitzpatrick who went missing in Spain five years ago. She was last seen leaving a friend’s house in Fuengirola at around 9pm on New Year’s Day 2008.
