Man in his 70s killed in Cork house fire

The fire is not deemed suspicious at this time.

A MAN IN his 70s has died in a house fire in Cork.

The man died at his home in Kelleher’s Buildings, Dillon’s Cross, Mayfield early this morning.

Gardaí and fire services were called to the scene around 4.30am.

The body of a man in his mid 70s, the sole occupant of the house, was recovered from the house and pronounced dead at the scene.The body was taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem is to be arranged. No other injuries have been reported.

The scene is currently preserved for technical examination and the fire is not deemed suspicious at this time.
