Mystery surrounds discovery of unconscious man near construction site

The man was spotted by a passing motorist at around 5.20am. An appeal for information has been issued.

POLICE IN THE North are appealing for information after a man was found unconscious near the village of Greenisland, to the north of Belfast.

He was found on the coastal Shore Road early this morning.

According to the PSNI:

“The male was spotted at the entrance to a construction site by a passing motorist at around 5.20am. Police were called and the man was immediately transferred to hospital by ambulance.”

The man has not yet regained consciousness. He had been seen earlier that night in Carrickfergus, along the coast to the north.

A PSNI spokesperson said it was not clear how he came to be in the area where he was found, or what had happened to him.

“The last confirmed sighting of this male was at around midnight in Carrickfergus and we are trying to establish his movements between that time and when he was found at 5.20am,” the spokesperson said.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who saw a male walking on the Shore Road during the early hours of this morning or anyone who believes they have information that could help us.

“Police can be contacted by calling 101.”
