Maynooth line trains delayed for up to an hour after truck crashes into bridge

Crews have removed some rock from the rail line.

TRAINS ON IRISH Rail’s Dublin-Maynooth/Sligo line have been delayed after a truck hit a bridge.

The strike happened between Leixlip Louisa Bridge and Maynooth this evening. The truck hit a wall on Pike Bridge, which goes over the rail line.

An Irish Rail spokesperson confirmed to TheJournal.ie that have been to the area to assess the safety of the bridge.

Crews have removed some rock from the rail line, but the bridge has been passed as safe.

Earlier congestion means that trains leaving Dublin are delayed by up to an hour, but Irish Rail hopes to clear that backlog soon.
