"Let me just say this: unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever wanna know". Jimmy Kimmel Live

Michelle Obama responds to Trump's bizarre comments about Rob Reiner on Jimmy Kimmel show

Obama said she and her husband Barack were due to meet the couple the night of their deaths.

MICHELLE OBAMA HAS said Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer Reiner were “decent, courageous people” following Donald Trump’s comments linking their deaths to criticism of him.

Nick Reiner, the son of the film director and his wife, was arrested yesterday after the couple were found dead in their home with what appeared to be stab wounds.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, Obama said she and her husband Barack have known the couple for many years and were due to meet them the night of their deaths.

She said: “Let me just say this: unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever wanna know. They are not deranged or crazed, what they have always been are passionate people”.

The comments come after the US President said Reiner was killed “due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as Trump derangement syndrome”.

Trump derangement syndrome is a derogatory term for Trump critics coined by Trump supporters.

Obama told Kimmel the couple were “the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about”.

“They cared about their family and they cared about this country and they cared about fairness and equity. And that is the truth; I do know them,” she said.

Earlier in his Monday night show, Kimmel also slammed Trump for his remarks about Rob and Michele Reiner.

“It’s so hateful and vile,” he said.

“When I first saw it, I thought it was fake. My wife showed it to me this morning. I was like, ‘Even for him, that seemed like too much.’ But nothing is ever too much for him.”
