Small decor tasks you can do with minimal effort for big impact

Elevate your home over the weekend!

IF YOU’RE LOOKING to tackle some decor predicaments around your home but don’t want to be left with a hole in your kitchen wall – we’ve got you covered. On this week’s Taskmaster, we’re exploring smaller tasks that you can undertake that have a big impact on the way your home feels. The main objective is simplicity, so these tasks can be completed over a weekend, or a few dedicated hours. The simpler the better in our opinion, and no power tools are necessary. Rejoice!

Hang floor to ceiling curtains

We’d all love to be blessed with floor to ceiling windows that allow every inch of light to bounce off our beautifully assembled and carefully curated decor. Unfortunately, that’s not the reality for many of us, but there are ways that you can achieve this look that are quite simple. By hanging curtains from the highest point of the wall that fall all the way down to the floor, you create a soft and subtle guide for the eye to follow, encouraging you to take in all of the space you have therefore giving the illusion of a larger room. The higher the curtains and closer to the ceiling also gives the space a sense of grandeur, no matter the size of the window! We’re faking it till we make it with this task.

Peel and stick backsplash

This task takes a bit of research to ensure that you’re getting the right type of peel and stick tile options for your space, but is ideal when it comes to injecting personality and making a big impact. Peel and stick tiles are also a great option for renters as they’re easy to apply and remove in order to get that all-important deposit back. Peel and stick backsplash can instantly transform a room without the time and commitment that’s involved in tiling. Woodie’s have an abundance of options  and we love these light green subway tile options available from Amazon.

Paint your front door

This could potentially be one of our favourite weekend tasks that has serious payoff for your home. We’re saying it’s a weekend job because there is some prep that you need to undertake to ensure that it lasts. By painting your front door, you’re instantly giving your home a lift and we’re advocates of choosing a shade that brings you joy. Although, it’s important to note that in order to stay on the right side of the neighbours – it’s also good to consider the architectural integrity of the home and it’s surroundings.

But also, paint the door pink if you want a pink door, it’s your door!

A few things to cover off before achieving the front door of your dreams:

  • Clean your door thoroughly before starting
  • Allow surface to fully dry
  • Remove any loose or flaking paint
  • Fill with suitable filler
  • Sand well with a fine sandpaper
  • Mask up any hardware you want to protect
  • Prime appropriately

Decant to feel bougie

Our final tip is an incredibly easy task that will leave you feeling… well, a bit smug actually. We’ve all seen those homes that have the beautifully decanted hand-wash in the bathrooms and cleaning products that are so aesthetically pleasing to look at that it makes you want to clean more! The good news is, this is a very attainable level of bouginess with minimal effort but offers big impact.

These reusable and refillable amber glass bottles with adjustable trigger modes are perfect for your cleaning supplies. These matching dispensers for hand-wash and soap will spark joy in your everyday sink activities. Happy decanting!
