Man charged with murder of Audrius Butkus

The 44-year-old was found dead on Mornington beach in Co Meath on 10 September.

A MAN IN his fifties is due in court in this morning charged with the murder of Lithuanian national Audrius Butkus, whose body was found on Mornington beach last month.

The 44-year-old victim had lived in the Drogheda area for a number of years. His body was found on the Co Meath beach, at the mouth of the River Boyne, on 10 September.

Three people, a man in his fifties and two women aged in their thirties and sixties, were previously questioned in connection with the case.

The man appearing in court this morning was detained in the Drogheda area on Monday night and taken to the town’s garda station for questioning.

He’s due to appear at Dundalk District Court at 10.30a.m.
