Nissan Micra

Here are the all-new Nissan Micra Irish specs and prices

Nissan’s supermini looks radically different from previous models.

THE NISSAN MICRA has been a familiar sight on our roads since 1983 and over 3.5million Micras have been sold in Europe alone but this fifth generation model looks nothing like the ones gone before.

The new Micra is now longer, wider and lower than before giving it a more aggressive stance. In, fact it is now the widest car in the segment.

The front is dominated by the Nissan family V-Motion grille, found also on the Pulsar, X-Trail and Qashqai. There are boomerang-shaped lights, a trendy floating roof, hidden exhausts, rear door handles hidden in the C-pillars and an extended roofline that incorporates a spoiler.

Customers have the option of making their Micra stand out even more as there is a choice of ten different colours and 65 exterior and interior personalisation combinations.

The new Micra is available is in four trim levels: XE, SV, SV Premium and SVE.

All cars come with ISOFIX on the front and rear seats, tyre pressure sensors, ESP, ABS, BA, and hill start assist as standard and there is the option of a safety pack which includes IEB, high beam assist, lane departure warning and prevention, and traffic sign recognition.

Music lovers will be happy to hear that the Micra can be had with a BOSE personal audio system. This €500 option will see the car get four speakers throughout the cabin and two in the driver’s headrest and proprietary Bose digital signal processing to create a ‘personalised listening experience’.

Powering the Micra is a choice of three engines. There is a punchy 0.9-litre turbocharged unit that produces 90hp and can return a claimed 4.4 litres/100km (64mpg). This engine can be had with all four vehicle trim levels and will cost €180-190 to tax depending on model.

There is also a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol option that produces 70hp and is available on XE and SV grades and costs €190 to tax.

The diesel is a 1.5-litre unit that produces 90hp and has a claimed 3.2 litres/100km (88.3mpg) on a combined cycle. This is available on all trim levels and will cost €180-190 to tax.

For the time being, the only gearbox available is a five-speed manual.

Entry level price for the 1.0-litre XE trim Micra is €16,650. An increment of €1,000 will be charged for the 0.9-litre petrol over the entry 1.0-litre unit and a further €2,000 will be charged for the 1.5-litre diesel. The most expensive model at €23,650 is the 1.5-litre diesel in SVE trim with the exterior personalisation pack.

The order books have already opened and the new Nissan Micra is available to buy in Ireland now.
