Lifestyle factors are things women can change to reduce their risk of breast cancer. Being a healthy weight and getting enough exercise is important for your general health. But for women who have experienced the menopause, it’s particularly important. Being overweight or obese after menopause may increase your risk of developing breast cancer.
Your risk can also increase with the amount of alcohol you drink. Drinking alcohol doesn’t mean you will get breast cancer – but it means your risk is higher. Cutting down on the amount of alcohol you drink can positively affect your overall health, including lowering your chances of breast cancer.
