ST PATRICK STATION on the Toronto Subway line is usually bedecked in green, but this week the station has been taken up a level of Irishness thanks to the imminent arrival of Paddy’s Day.

And it was there that Irish man in Toronto Aidan Ryan spotted a Guinness poster celebrating Paddy’s Day with a joke about foliage.

But they’d put in a four-leaf clover instead of a Shamrock

Which, of course, didn’t go unnoticed by the Irish in the city

And the heroes of the Irish & New In Toronto Facebook group were on it in a flash

Eagle-eyed Irish take our shamrocks seriously.

Irish man in Toronto Gareth O’Connell told DailyEdge.ie that he Facebook messaged Guinness to let them know of the oversight – and they got back to him (and the others who messaged) with this sound response:

Excellent.

Gareth says that he sent Guinness a message when he saw people on the Irish & New in Toronto group talking about it – but he never thought they would respond:

They couldn’t have replied better – and when I posted it on the group a lot of people seemed relieved.

Guinness Ireland confirmed to DailyEdge.ie that the offending posters have been removed as of last night.

So now we can all celebrate Paddy’s Day – no matter where we are – with the real Shamrock as our true Irish companion.
