Many have paid tribute to the British actress following her death aged 85.

ACTRESS PAULINE COLLINS has died at the age of 85, her family has announced.

Collins first rose to fame in the early 1970s with her role in the television series Upstairs, Downstairs and went on to enjoy a long and celebrated acting career.

She was perhaps best known for her lead performance in the 1989 film Shirley Valentine, which earned her an Oscar nomination.
