GARDAÍ IN MEATH are investigating the death of a man in Clonard tonight.
The man in his 60s was struck by a car while walking on the old N4 near the village between 7pm and 7.30pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was not injured.
One lane remains closed on the Clonard/Kilcock Road to allow for forensic exams. It is expected to reopen in the morning.
The victim is the 39th pedestrian to die on Irish roads this year.
The death toll from collisions for 2014 is currently 182, higher than for the same period last year.
