"I have my own willy, which can also double up as a towel-holder" - MEP's sex ed video is surprisingly instructive
Don’t we all?

MEPS AREN’T JUST there to raise big issues and provide stiff opposition in the European Parliament, you know.

There’s also there for the smaller issues. And the bigger ones.

Labour MEP Phil Prendergast, who was a nurse, a midwife and a sexual health expert in her former life, has made this video explaining all things sex-related for those in need of a primer (or a refresher, depending on how long it’s been).

Frankly, we’d have appreciated information this straightforward in school.

In the video, made for the University of Limerick Sexual Health Awareness Week, Prendergast explains how she started doing classes in schools about 15 years ago to talk to young people about sex and fill in the gaps on what they needed to know.

She talks about the mechanics of sex, STIs (including details of local clinics for students to attend, and advice on not wearing their school uniform so as not to attract attention to themselves), and advises students not to look to the internet for tips on sex.

And, of course, she obligatorily demonstrates how to put a condom on (“I have my own willy, which can also double up as a towel-holder when you’re not using it,” she explains).

The video has been viewed just over 750 times since it was published on 8 April, and has been shared on Facebook and Twitter.

Good woman, Phil. Now over to all the other MEPs and MEP candidates to prove their knowledge of all things sex-related…
