Player ratings: How did the candidates (and the hosts) fare in tonight's debate?

Were they ready for Prime Time?

IT WAS THE last night of the Connolly and Humphreys show as the two Áras hopefuls clashed in the final TV debate of the presidential campaign.

Miriam O’Callaghan and Sarah McInerney were on hosting duties in the Prime Time studios.

The questions largely focused on the various controversies that have come up in the course of the campaign – like Connolly’s 2018 trip to Syria, Humphreys’ defence of fox-hunting and the two candidates’ respective positions on foreign affairs.

There were a couple of more surprising contributions along the way too, however – when asked for an example on when they had each demonstrated humility, both candidates chose to speak at length on their regrets that Covid restrictions were too harsh for families with loved ones in hospital.

As Connolly noted at the start of the programme, the debate itself was historic in that two female candidates were taking part in a presidential debate hosted by two women.

So how did they all do?
