GARDAÍ AND INVESTIGATORS from the Revenue’s Customs Service uncovered an illicit poitín distillery in rural Co Tipperary yesterday.
It was found in a rural part of North Tipp, close to Nenagh.
“The distillation process was in operation at the time of the search and a quantity of ‘poitín’ was seized,” a statement from Revenue said.
“The distillery and all related equipment involved in the processing was also seized.”
A file is currently being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
