Police arrest third man in Ronan Kerr murder inquiry

The man was detained in the Omagh area of Co Tyrone last night as the PSNI have been given extra time to question the two other men being held in connection with the murder of the police constable.

POLICE IN NORTHERN IRELAND have arrested a third man in connection with the murder of Catholic police officer Ronan Kerr last Saturday.

A 33-year-old man is being held for questioning after he was arrested in Omagh, Co Tyrone last night.

He is the third man to be held in connection with the murder of Kerr who was killed in a car bomb outside his home in Omagh last weekend.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have also been given an extra five days to question the two other men being held in connection with the murder.

A 26-year-old man, named as Brian Carron, and an unidentified 40-year-old man were arrested over the past week in connection with the murder and the discovery of a significant number of arms in Coalisland, Co Tyrone on Tuesday.
