Do you invest?

The Finance Minister said he’s looking at the UK, Sweden, and Canada for inspiration on a new savings scheme.

FINANCE MINISTER SIMON Harris has recently pushed forward the idea of incentivising Irish people to invest, saying Government is examining a new (well, new to us) savings scheme.

Details have been scant, but he did say he is looking at the UK, Sweden, and Canada for inspiration. The Journal’s Paul O’Donoghue has examined the savings schemes available in these jurisdictions that may be mirrored here.

Of course, the main barrier for Irish investors is deemed disposal and the amount of tax owed on any return on investments.

So today we’re asking you: Do you invest or have shares?
