Poll: Do you think workers earning more than €44k should pay less tax?

Tánaiste Simon Harris says the government plans on raising the income threshold.

THE GOVERNMENT IS planning on increasing the amount people can earn before entering the higher tax bracket of 40%.

There wasn’t a personal income package in last year’s budget, but Tánaiste Simon harris said it’s now a priority.

“[The threshold] was about €33,000 back in 2015, it’s now €44,000. I would like to see progress on that in the budgets ahead,” he said.

Harris argues that workers who work overtime, get a promotion, or see their wages rise should be able to keep their money.

It’s unclear by how much the threshold would increase in the next budget.

Today, we’re asking you: Do you think workers earning more than €44,000 should pay less tax?

Poll Results:

Yes (2497)
No (350)
Yes, but the threshold should only be raised a little (339)
